Judy McConnell was born in Charleston, West Virginia. As a young child she

moved with her family to Minneapolis, Minnesota. While growing up and attending college out

west, she wrote poetry and short stories, but it wasn’t until after marriage, children, and

a career in education and training that she took up creative writing full time. Her first book,

A Penny a Kiss: Memoir of a Minnesota Girl in the Forties and Fifties, was written after

retirement. A resident of Minneapolis, she has recently completed a sequel memoir and a novel.
