Halle O'Falvey

I started sewing when I was 13 years old and I saw myself as a technician not a designer.  I enjoy the mechanics of sewing things and I love the art of altering garments.  I began to see myself as an artist because of a Mixed Media Installation Class I took with David Cole (RIP) as an undergraduate student in 1999.  Then in 2003 I drove by myself to Milwaukee, WI to see ‘The Gee’s Bend Quilts’ witnessing these startling quilts colorful, bold, abstract, nothing predictable, as an Eastern European Quilts would be, and I knew I could quilt.   I did not have to follow traditional quilting techniques.  I still am a fine technician but I have freedom to explore.
